Project Brief
Design a vehicle wrap for a tractor. The client requested that the tractor be light blue and look like it's covered in dry rust from sitting in the Arizona sun. Include lettering that says "Copperhead Logistics" with the provided location and phone number.
Process
Before
The vehicle was a plain grey color prior to wrapping.
Revision I
The design began with a rough proof. Several rust images were masked onto the vehicle to ensure the design started off in the right direction.
Revision II
Once the client approved the initial proof, I began photoshopping the rust images together and designing the logo.
Revision III
A final proof was created to present the finished product as accurately as possible, displaying all angles of the vehicle to ensure client satisfaction.
Logo Design
The client wanted a rustic, western-inspired logo to match the rest of the vehicle's design.
Takeaways
This project really showed me how powerful Photoshop can be. The kind of photo manipulation I needed to make the tractor look rusty just wouldn’t have been possible without it. I learned a lot about blending textures and creating realistic effects. It was a really fun and rewarding project that pushed my skills.
Successes
I think this piece is super unique and definitely stands out. It went beyond just meeting the client’s expectations; it looked real, the rust felt authentic, and the overall design was clean. The client loved it so much, they ended up ordering more “rusty” designs from us, which was really exciting.
Changes
Honestly, I’m really happy with how this turned out. If I had to tweak something, I’d probably go back and make the rusted lettering look a bit more worn and natural. But overall, I wouldn’t change much.
