Details and Designs Website
Details and Designs Website
Developed a modern, responsive website for Details and Designs, showcasing professional alterations, floristry, and home staging services through custom branding, SEO optimization, and user-focused design.
Project Type: Website Design & Development
Software & Languages Used: Figma, Webflow
Project Brief
Designed and developed a fully responsive website for a local creative service business with a focus on improving its online presence and generating client inquiries. The project included information architecture, custom UI design, responsive development in Webflow, on-page SEO, accessibility improvements, structured data (schema markup), local SEO optimization, and content strategy. Additional work included writing metadata, optimizing images and alt text, creating service pages, integrating contact forms, and preparing the website for Google Search Console and Google Business Profile indexing.
Process
Client Feedback & Iteration
After creating the initial design, I met with the client to review the website and gather feedback. Based on the discussion, I refined the design by adding collapsible FAQ information to improve readability and implementing a filterable gallery, making it easier for visitors to browse projects by category. This collaborative review process helped ensure the final design better reflected the client's vision and user needs.
Design
I designed a clean, welcoming interface that reflected the client's brand and made it easy for visitors to navigate. Special attention was given to accessibility, readability, and creating clear calls to action to encourage appointment requests. I incorporated client feedback and refined the layout and user experience to ensure the final design aligned with both the client's vision and the needs of potential customers.
SEO & Launch
Before launch, I optimized the website for search engines by writing metadata, adding descriptive alt text, implementing schema markup, generating a sitemap, connecting Google Search Console, and preparing the site for Google indexing. After final testing and client approval, the website was published, giving the business its first professional online presence.
Takeaways
This project marked several important milestones in my growth as a web designer and developer. It was my first website built for a real client, my first experience working through an entire website project from planning to launch, and my first opportunity to implement SEO best practices, structured data, and Google Search Console indexing. It strengthened my understanding of both the technical and client-facing aspects of web development while reinforcing the importance of designing with both users and search engines in mind.
Successes
One of the aspects I'm most proud of is creating a website that feels polished, professional, and aligned with the client's brand. The design balances warmth with functionality, making it easy for visitors to learn about the business, explore services, and get in touch. I also enjoyed learning and implementing SEO fundamentals, including metadata, accessibility improvements, schema markup, image optimization, and Google indexing. Beyond the technical work, one of the most rewarding parts of the project was seeing my client's excitement as the website came together. Watching her business become more established and "official" through a professional online presence was incredibly fulfilling and reinforced why I enjoy creating websites that help small businesses grow.
Changes
If I were to revisit the project, I would focus on improving the photography throughout the site. While the available images showcased the client's work, higher-quality, professionally photographed images would better highlight the craftsmanship and elevate the overall visual presentation. I'd also continue refining the SEO strategy over time by monitoring search performance, expanding content where appropriate, and making data-driven improvements as the site begins to gain visibility.
